The Eden Project
Location: Cornwall,UK
Hidden in Cornwall is the fantastic Eden Project, a mixture of indoor and outdoor displays of plants and wildlife. The project is split into 4 main areas, the rain forest, the mediterranean, the core and the outdoor biome. Our favorite was the rain forest biome ( the big bubble things you always see on the telly). Once inside the biome you could feel the humidity and temperature of the rain forest. Stunningly large plants and trees cover a long walkway through the biome. You climb slightly to the top for a great view across the rain forest. Weaving in and out of the different plants and flowers you really feels as if you’re in a rain forest.
The Mediterranean Biome is a welcome relief after the humidty of the Rainforest, in the biome you wander through the med, South Africa and california, which has a distinctive climate. Only 2% of the planet has this climate but it holds 20% of the plant life. The plants in this biome are mainly cactus, olives trees and biggest aloe plant we’ve ever seen.

Rainforest Biome

- Plants: Over 1,129 different species
- Temperature: 18c to 35c
- Average temp: 24c
- Average humidity: 90%
Mediterranean Biome
- Size: 30m high and 6540m2 (over half a hectare)
- Plants: 1,015 different species and cultivars
- Temperature: 9c minimum in winter, 25c maximum in summer
